Carter Plantation is located near the historic town of Springfield, in Livingston Parish, Louisiana. The plantation is approximately one hour from New Orleans, thirty minutes from Baton Rouge, and fifteen minutes from Hammond.

From New Orleans:

1. Travel West on I-10 towards Baton Rouge.
2. Travel North on I-55 towards Hammond.
3. Do NOT take the first Ponchatoula exit.
4. Take Exit 26 Ponchatoula/Springfield. (Total distance from I-55 to Carter Plantation is approximately 7 miles.)
5. Use the second exit ramp for Springfield.
6. Merge onto Highway 22 traveling West.
   Continue traveling on Highway 22 into the town of Springfield (5.3 miles).
7. Turn left at the red light located in the center of Springfield.
8. Go two blocks and turn right onto State Road 1038, also known as Carter Cemetery Road, which is next to the First Baptist Church.
   Travel 1.5 miles.
9. Carter Plantation is located at the end of Carter Cemetery Road. There are signs directing you to The Pavilion and the Carter House (Discovery Center and Real Estate Sales Office).

From Baton Rouge:

1. Travel East on I-12.
2. Take Exit 32 Albany/Springfield. (Total distance from I-12 to Carter Plantation is 5.5 miles.)
3. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Highway 43.
4. Continue traveling on Highway 43 for 2.7 miles.
5. At the end of Highway 43, turn left onto Highway 42.
6. Follow Highway 42 into the town of Springfield (1.1 miles).
7. Go straight through the red light located in the center of Springfield.
8. Go two blocks and turn right onto State Road 1038, also known as Carter Cemetery Road, which is next to the First Baptist Church. Travel 1.5 miles.
9. Carter Plantation is located at the end of Carter Cemetery Road. There are signs directing you to The Pavilion and the Carter House (Discovery Center and Real Estate Sales Office).

3. Turn left at the end of the ramp and cross over the overpass.
4. Travel South for 2.7 miles.
5. Continue to the end of this road and turn right onto Highway 22.
6. Follow Highway 22 into the town of Springfield (.6 miles).
7. Take a left at the red light located in the center of Springfield.
8. Go two blocks and turn right onto State Road 1038, also known as Carter Cemetery Road, which is next to the First Baptist Church.
